Here’s how my fantasy football draft ended up from Friday night…
We went 32 rounds trying to fill 16 starting positions: 1QB, 1RB, 2WR, 1TE, 2DE, 2DT, 2OLB, 1MLB, 2CB, 2S.
By the time the regular season gets rollin’, well have a 28-man roster, 2 injured reserve slots, and a waiver wire pick each week where each pick can be rolled-over indefinitely through to the end of week 16.
We don’t play head-to-head. Instead we play for highest cumulative point total at the end of the season. A little bit o’ cash, dinner on the fellas, fellowship, and bragging rights are the prize.
The players in bold are my projected starters, and the ** are my keepers from last season. (As you can see, my keepers rounded out my offense fairly well, so my draft strategy was to grab some of the best players on defense early.)

this is a test post from my palm centro using an app from cellspin.net
If you haven’t heard already, my wife and I are adopting a kid from Korea!
This is a picture of him at the time of referral at 5 months. We just got done with our first-ever yardsale to help raise a little bit of extra cash to help finance bringing this little booger home! Several of our friends from church brought over some stuff to sell and we had a great time meeting new folks and making some extra cash! In our estimation (and especially in my wife’s all-important perspective), this yardsale was a *success*!
Anywho, here’s the quick n’ dirty story of all the adoption stuff that has happened up ’til now — the story and process isn’t anything spectacular, and right now, we find ourselves simply waiting for “the call” to fly over there and pick him up.
Ashleigh and I had always talked about adoption at some point after we’ve had a couple kids on our own, but for unknown reasons we couldn’t sustain a pregnancy after having our first kid. We made a number of various failed attempts which resulted in a wee bit of frustration and a lot of wondering as to why things weren’t “clicking.”
So, at about the turn of the new year (Jan.’08) we decided that we would investigate and pursue adoption.
Lot’s of phone calls and meetings and research and some reservations from parents and home studies and paperwork and prayers and conversations with friends who have adopted and discussions about finances ensued.
We knew, going in, that it would be expensive and that anything could happen at anytime — we needed to just be patient with the whole process. It could take 6 months, it could take 18 months, or it might even take years — we knew that there were those countries and agencies that “made” adoption an incredible ordeal — multiple visits and 2-3 year wait times!
Gratefully, we ended up with Children’s Home Society & Family Services as our adoption agency. CHSFS was the agency a friend of ours used to adopt 2 of their kids from Korea. We had decided pretty much from the start that we would adopt a Korean kid that was less than 12 months old, and as we were doing our research, we realized that CHSFS’s Heritage Program would help us through the adoption process faster than some of the other agencies.
We received the referral info on July 16. Our kid is in a foster home through Eastern Social Welfare Sociey. We chatted with a doctor specializing in adoption kids and went over the medical info and questions we had on the kid a couple days later — he’s quite healthy. We also conveyed much of the info with our parents, and within a week of the referral we accepted the referral.
More paperwork! WHAT?!?!? I thought were all done with paperwork!
So, from January 2008 ’til now (Aug.’08), we’ve taken care of all that we need to… and now we wait. We should hear something in the next month or two — hopefully sooner! I guess they call us, let us know that it’s go-time to pick up the kid… and in a matter of days, we’ll be in Korea!
We’re excited! And we’re grateful for all of our church and interweb friends that have encouraged us!
If we could ask for your prayers, please pray for the health and spiritual well-being of our kid-in-waiting. Pray, for our finances as it is a burden on our budget. You can pray for us (and extended family) as we prepare to bring the kid home and make him our own. And also pray for expediency for the whole adoption process.
We look forward to sharing more with you as we wind down this whole adventure!
*MUCH* thanks to those of you that have donated stuff to us to sell and came out to visit with us! We just may do this again!
